Have you picked up the classifieds lately and looked in the employment section? Of course you haven't, you are trying to start your own business. Well, pick it up! You would be surprised at how many attorneys there are trying to hire in-house Nurse Paralegals and Legal Nurse Consultants. These are the attorneys you definitely want to send a marketing packet to and follow-up with a phone call. Drive home the idea that your way will only cost them money PER CASE!!! Being an attorney is the one field of practice where money talks and does mean everything.

Start by trying to get the same newsletters, journals and reading material in your area that the attorneys are getting. If at all possible, try to associate in ANY way with the people of the legal community, however, don't go out and get yourself arrested!! HA! HA! Trying to keep your name and face fresh in their minds will bring a lot of business your way.

Jill's tip of the month: If you happen to be going in to speak with an attorney, bring everyone in their office some goodies to eat such as: brownies, cookies or any kind of FOOD...imagine that...they do have something in common with nurses. They don't have time to eat either. Don't forget to bring your marketing packets, CV, Fee Schedule and Sample Work Product.
