Many people fail at their business before they even get started. They prepare by getting the education that they need to start their new nursing business, the telephone number and business set-up such as a fax machine, printer, computer, office equipment and other items to start up their business and then...they stop. They are afraid to fail. They may not know where to go from there. How to get business or what to do once they have it.
The image that others see of you and your business will start with how you project your image: from your marketing packet to your outward image including what you wear. You need to be professional and dress for success. But even with this in place, you can fail. Your marketing packet is the most important image you portray. If you make the marketing materials yourself, you are going to have less business or no business. There are many no's in marketing that nurses seem to go to first when creating their marketing packets. Some nurses even go into business without a marketing plan.
For the price that it costs to make copies, you can get your entire marketing packet including design and content printed on quality paper from RN MARKET. RN MARKET won't cost you any more money than if you made it yourself. The quality will be worth it!
Click Here to visit RN MARKET online for more information on how to get started or how to update your image as a Legal Nurse Consultant. Send in your marketing materials and we will evaluate them for free! We offer free marketing mentorship! All you have to do is call or email us with your questions. Hard Work + Knowledge = Legal Nurse Success
HARD WORK: In a recent class, we had a student that had put great effort into her Legal Nurse Consulting business. She had mailed out 160 packets, and followed up with 160 calls to the attorneys. Her results? NO interviews, VERY FEW actual conversations with attorneys, and NO cases. She had dedication, and put in a lot of work and expense in her marketing materials. She just could not understand WHY her formula was not yielding positive results.
KNOWLEDGE: She attended a 2 Day Internship with Veronica and worked on the specific details of her business; report writing, case analysis, report presentation, marketing strategies, phone skills and interviewing techniques.
SUCCESS: Needless to say, at the end of the class she made FOUR calls, and this resulted in FOUR interviews. That is a 100% interview success rate and an amazing improvement over her initial efforts.
If you have any additional questions about these course dates, please call us at (813) 251-3609 or email Veronica at info@RNMarket.com.

Successful Legal Nurse Interviewing Tips
According to the University of Illinois Extension statistics, first impressions are formed within seconds of meeting someone new. It breaks down to these three main factors;
55% Appearance and Body Language
38% Tone of Your Voice
7% What You Say
We have been hearing some feedback from attorney-nurse interviews, and wanted to pass that information along to you. The first impression is critical to be able to impress the attorney and assure him or her that you are competent, efficient and able to help them understand their medical-legal cases.
Don’t Wear Your Hospital Scrubs
The Legal Nurse needs to dress for the part you want to be hired for. In other words, do not arrive to the interview in your scrubs, or other hospital attire. Failing to do so may send a message to the attorney that you don’t have time management skills to complete the task of dressing for an interview. Consequently, he or she may think that perhaps you do not have time to work effectively on the cases either.
Be Completely Organized
Nothing is worse during an interview than not being able to find the report you are talking about with the attorney, or having to shuffle through papers and notes to present your SmartDraw illustrations. When Veronica presents herself to an attorney, she uses a presentation folder that has a large label with her company logo on it. It looks extremely professional and put together, and shows the attorney that her company is to be taken seriously. Her label has the design that matches her business cards and company design. This type of presentation gets results, and has been utilized by Veronica over the years after many trial and errors of other ways to present your information.
Presentation Folder
(100 count with shipping, various colors): $190
Large Presentation Labels
(252 count, printed with Logo and shipping): $70
Nothing to be Nervous About
By controlling your body language, you can appear more self confident and relaxed. Many nurses are extremely nervous when meeting with the attorney, when they should be happy and excited to be meeting with their next potential case. Smiling, without being silly, is one of the best ways to break the ice and let your own personality shine through. Be aware of your body language. Do you tend to pick at your nails? Do you get itchy when you are nervous? When meeting with the attorney, be fully present in that moment. Put the distractions in your life out of your mind. Sit slightly foreword on your chair and have both feet on the floor. If you need to, you can cross your ankles, and remember to keep good eye contact.
If you would like help with your interviewing skills, th LN STAT certification course offers interactive interviewing practice to hlp you build your confidence. Also available are Live One-On-One Internships with Veronica.

The Key to Legal Nurse Success
Here at RN Market we get many calls from nurses who have tried to succeed as Legal Nurse Consultants. The nurses have a variety of issues, although some issues are more crucial to their success than others. If these critical issues can be corrected, the Legal Nurse will stand a good chance of having a rewarding career. Legal Nurses should keep in mind that each part of their business is a necessary support for the other parts. Imagine trying to ride a bicycle without the wheels...or the handlebars...or the seat. If you don't have all the parts working together, you won't get far on that bicycle.
Outdated/generic marketing materials:
RN Market has conducted research on the use of the generic business card. Many nurses have PAID to have generic business cards printed and they are getting little, if any response.
There is a reason the largest corporations in the world spend millions of dollars on advertisement and marketing each year. The reason is that marketing is an art, not a science. Science is what nurses know. Marketing is what must be taught, because it does not come naturally to most nurses. If you are not getting the response you want, it may be because your marketing materials are not interesting enough. What good is twenty or thirty years of nursing experience and knowledge if you can't connect with your potential clients?
RN Market utilizes one of the premiere graphic artists in the field to design marketing materials for our nurses. His name is Matt Orefice and he has experience working for large circulated magazines, corporations, and some of the top educators in the graphic design field.
For those interested in viewing Matt's artistic creations, Matt will be hosting a gallery opening at Ave. Cellars in Tampa, FL at Westchase on February 21, 2009.
Using a designer with Matt's artistic abilities and experience in the field of graphic design, your marketing materials will stand out from the masses and most likely get the attention and produce the results you want. Therefore, RN Market recommends that each Legal Nurse should utilize a graphic artist like Matt for the best possible marketing solution.
Fear
When you send out your marketing materials, you MUST follow up with a phone call. Many nurses become anxious about making the follow up phone call. Unfortunately, the packets by themselves can only get you so many cases. Attorneys usually have many things going on at once and might displace your marketing materials with other papers. Worse yet, they might not even remember you from your own marketing package. Therefore, a follow up call is a necessary evil. Lastly, make sure you wait at least a week before making the follow up call.
Once you have the courage to make the call, be certain to ask if the attorney received your packet. If they say "No" respond: "Perhaps the packet got lost in the mail. I could drop another one off today at your office." This will give you a chance to meet the attorney in person. If they have just a couple of minutes when you drop the packet off, you can tell them briefly what it is that you do and how you can help them.
If on the other hand, the attorney says "Yes, I did receive your materials," respond; "Great! Do you have cases currently with medical issues? We could sit down and discuss them, and I could give you a 'first glance' consultation free of charge." Don't be scared to make that follow up call. Many times you will be the Superhero to the attorney, because you can work on the case they may have little knowledge about.
Laziness
Every nurse has something that distracts them from really investing in their Legal Nurse business. Kids? Work schedule? TV shows? You can make the most convincing arguments to yourself about why your Legal Nurse Consulting business should wait. "Your kids come first." "My job is really demanding right now." Or, "It's the holidays; I really don't have the time."
Why not be creative about working on your business? When you tell your children that it is time for you to work, lay out your business materials on a desk or the kitchen table. Then say to them if they want to help, they can. However, be sure to stipulate that there should be no food or drinks near your materials. Some tasks children can help with include: putting stamps on the packets, licking the envelopes, or even giving you a back massage while you work. This involvement gives the kids a clear message about work ethic, running a business, and it shows them your own dedication to your Legal Nurse Consulting business.
Furthermore, use the time you have to your advantage by multi-tasking. Put together your marketing packets while you watch your favorite TV show. Try to break the tasks up into smaller, shorter jobs, and work them into the time you are doing other tasks. This makes the work seem easier and you won't have to sacrifice a large chunk of time to get the tasks done. Don't forget to reward yourself after each business related task you complete . A little treat, like a latte or pedicure, can be a great incentive for reaching your goals.
The methods described above are the same ones used by Veronica and the nurses who graduate from RN Market's programs. If you are having any other problems with your Legal Nurse Consulting business, contact us. We may be able to guide you in the right direction.
